Greenlife Kuwait is leading the way in sustainable horticulture innovation — proving that even the most extreme environments can support thriving year-round crop production with the right approach. Based in one of the world’s hottest regions, Greenlife faced the formidable challenge of cultivating fresh lettuce throughout the year while contending with soaring summer temperatures and the limitations of traditional greenhouse cooling methods.

Determined to find a smarter, more energy-efficient solution, Greenlife partnered with NLight to transform their growing environment. The project centred around the installation of 180 × RV1000 LED horticulture lighting fixtures, each designed with an optimised 88/6/6 spectrum and a single-channel control system. Purpose-built for precision, these fixtures deliver the ideal light conditions needed to grow compact, high-quality lettuce heads — even when external temperatures soar.

Integrated into a closed-screen greenhouse system, the energy-efficient LEDs dramatically reduce reliance on costly cooling systems by maintaining stable internal climates. The closed screens help manage temperature and humidity levels, while the RV1000 fixtures ensure consistent, high-quality light for optimum lettuce growth.

Greenlife also introduced an advanced aeroponic benching system, streamlining water and nutrient delivery to further boost efficiency, conserve resources, and promote robust plant development. Together, these innovations have enabled Greenlife to achieve reliable, high-yield lettuce production year-round — with reduced energy usage, lower operational costs, and minimal environmental impact.

This collaboration between Greenlife and NLight showcases the transformative power of technology and sustainable growing practices. By combining precision LED horticulture lighting with smart environmental controls, Greenlife is addressing food security challenges, reducing dependency on imports, and pioneering a new model for resilient agriculture in the desert.
